Longer thread engagement
A 45 mm closure with a single continuous thread, used on barrelled drinking water and on jerrycan necks for edible oil. A single start needs more turns to close than a triple start, and in exchange it gives a longer thread engagement — which is what you want when the container is heavy and gets handled repeatedly.
